Talking about precious stones we mean the most beautiful, most perfect and rarest works of nature. Precious stones, or in other words jewelry, drew people's attention at first just because of their beauty: their bright and clear coloring or combination of beautiful color with perfect transparency as transparency of clear water. The stones are enriched with sparkling - even by poor light a stone gives off a pencil of bright rays when turning

Such stones are very rare and it is also very important. Just the rarity of stones provokes their high price. During thousands of years the precious stones were the criterion of property and power. Many of such stones were found in tombs of pharaohs, Scythian chiefs and Ancient East rulers during archeological excavations.

There are many precious stones in famous Russian museums. In the Armory one can see the clothes heavy with precious stones belonged to Russian czars. In the Diamond Gallery of Peter the First there is stored one of the world most expensive collections of works made of agate by masters of Middle Ages and Antiquity. In Versailles in France there are stored the busts made of agate belonged to Alexander the Macedonian and Byzantine emperor Constantine as the examples of precious stones works. Of course, such demonstration of richness is very impressive. Just such richness of Chinese and Indian rulers was described by Marco Polo and other travelers of past, among them was famous Christopher Columb who set out on a long voyage to get countless treasures of India but opened America.

There has been always existing the culture of precious stones in Russia. Russian czar, Ivan the Terrible, adored precious stones. It is reflected in ancient Russian coins on which there is a sign "It is Ivan's money", it means money of czar Ivan the Terrible. In the time of Peter the first the development of Ural began where there were found the first Uralian precious stones. Katherine invited many European experts to develop deposits of Uralian precious stones. At the same time the exchange of ideas and skill in jewelry processing was taking place.

It would be wrong to think that all masterpieces of jewelry art have already created. Modern masters continue and develop the traditions of their forerunners, in proof of which we offer works of art in our catalogue.
